Billy Bragg, “There Is Power in a Union”

An anthem for unions and working people that manages to be majestic, with only Billy’s jagged Telecaster, a few simple chords, and his voice for instrumentation. I love the subversive riff, which actually sounds like a national anthem.

“Money speaks for money, the Devil for his own.” Keep that in mind the next time you’re inclined to think some billionaire is a genius when he’s really just a man who consolidated power and influence through accumulated wealth.
