Guided by Voices, “The Brides Have Hit Glass”
Bob Pollard is not a guy who tends to show his heart in songs, though he does it occasionally. And since I don’t keep up on every single GBV, solo, or side-project release, there may be many more examples than I can think of, but this one immediately comes to mind.
It wouldn’t be a Pollard song without a weird touch, and this one contains a sly one: he sings in the first verse about a song called “The Brides Have Hit Glass,” that’s presumably a different song from the one he’s currently singing. Or is it?
